The year is over! For some of us, it just came and went – a member of a long list of other such candidates. For some of us it probably was an year of great import, a milestone in our lives in some way or the other. I am not one for grand new year celebrations, or even resolutions for that matter. But I did make one this year – to come up with a best of 2010 compilation for AI at least before the first month of the new year is over! And guess what! I have managed to keep it! In all probability, a first!
But I did take my own sweet time, as always! I had to give all the tracks featured on AI in the last one year a listen. And then via successive iterations I graded the tracks and came up with favourites. Also I decided to break them up into three album-lengths. Two featuring Rock & Pop, one featuring Jazz, Blues, World Music & Electronica (disparate genres, I know – but I only wanted to take the best and there weren’t so many from each of them individually). Further, the two volumes of Rock & Pop are divided into heavier and lighter stuff – so you can take your pick.
At this point, a disclaimer is due. Music tastes are as unique to an individual as fingerprints! So I do not expect anyone to completely agree with any best-of list compiled by some one else. So my apologies if you feel some deserving band got left out.
And before I sign off thought I would tell you about some of the things to look forward to in 2011.

- More GIRs, Millennium. Also 13AD and Indian Ocean, amongst other international acts.
