Wolf People

Classic Rock fans rejoice! Amabilis Insania has just discovered the Wolf People!

It’s not easy to find good, modern, old-fashioned classic rock music (talk about contradictions!) on the net. But tonight I discovered this British band whose original compositions are some very solid examples of classic rock. Wolf People is the real deal! And they are:
Jack Sharp – Guitar, Vocal
Joe Hollick – Guitar
Tom Watt – Drums
Daniel Davies – Bass

Wolf People - Steeple

Their “first proper full-length album”, Steeple will be out this October. But they have released the album’s first single titled Tiny Circle and its available for free download. And going by that track I am excitedly waiting to buy the full album when it’s out! Tiny Circle has a great flute+guitar-laden riff that has embedded itself in some corner of my brain and for some time to come, I suspect. The use of flute draws obvious comparisons with Jethro Tull, that vanguard of the use of flute in rock. Well, to be completely honest, they did remind me of the old Tull – the Tull of such albums as Stand Up and This Was.

Another song, titled October Fires, from a previous album is also available for free download and is also a great track, with a harmonica replacing the flute. The guitar work is impressive on both tracks.

Also posted below is a video of Tiny Circle which is retro at its best! Plus, another video of a song called Caratacas.
